Egypt’s Zeina Zein wins K2 Squash Challenger title
Top seed defeats Lucie Stefanoni in four games to claim championship at inaugural women’s international event
PHILADELPHIA, USA (MNTV) — Egypt’s Zeina Zein claimed the K2 Squash PSA Women’s Challenger 6K Championship title, delivering a composed performance in the final of the tournament held at K2 Squash Club.
Zein, the top seed, defeated third-seeded Lucie Stefanoni of the United States 3–1, winning 11–9, 11–7, 8–11, 11–3 in a match lasting 34 minutes. The victory secured her the championship prize of $1,140, while Stefanoni received $720 as runner-up.
The tournament marked the first women’s international squash event hosted by the venue and its second international competition overall, signaling growing efforts to expand the sport’s presence in the country.
The closing ceremony was attended by Karamat Ullah Khan and tournament director Muhammad Naveed Alam, who presented trophies to the finalists.
Organizers said the event aimed to promote squash in the United States and highlighted the strong level of competition throughout the championship. They also expressed plans to expand the tournament in future editions, including increasing prize money.
The successful staging of the event is seen as a step forward in strengthening international squash development and building momentum for future competitions.
