Sydney Urdu School opens enrolments
Sydney Urdu School has steadily grown into a vibrant institution where children not only learn Urdu but also connect with broader tradition
SYDNEY, Australia (MNTV) — Sydney Urdu School has officially opened enrolments for the 2026 academic intake, inviting families across Sydney and its surrounding areas to register their children for Urdu language classes starting this term.
With campuses in Baulkham Hills, Lakemba, Austral, Auburn and Minto, the school aims to nurture linguistic skills and cultural identity among young learners in a warm, supportive environment, reports AMUST.
Sydney Urdu School, established in 2018, has steadily grown into a vibrant community institution where children not only learn Urdu but also connect with the rich tapestry of South Asian culture, literature, and tradition.
Classes are structured to accommodate students of all proficiency levels, from beginners to advanced learners.
Each week, students attend two-hour face-to-face sessions where they engage in interactive lessons focussed on reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
The curriculum uses English as a supportive medium of instruction, ensuring children who are more comfortable in English can still progress confidently in their Urdu studies.
“Urdu is not just a language; it is a bridge to culture, history and family heritage,” said Naseer Uddin Ali Khan Mohammed, founder of the school.
“We believe that bilingualism enriches a child’s learning journey and opens doors to deeper cultural understanding, stronger community ties and future opportunities,” he added.
The school’s teaching methodology is deliberately grounded in activity-based and culturally resonant learning.
Lessons blend traditional language learning with storytelling, art, poetry and group activities.
This gives students a dynamic learning experience and fosters a lifelong appreciation for Urdu.
Parents within the community have warmly welcomed the enrolment announcement. Many families expressed that finding quality Urdu language education locally has been a longstanding need.
“It’s been a challenge to keep our children connected with Urdu when everything around them is English,” one parent shared. “Sydney Urdu School gives our children a space to learn their mother tongue with joy and confidence,” another one added.
Sydney Urdu School’s impact extends beyond language skills to celebrating cultural pride and community spirit.
The institution regularly hosts cultural events such as Jashn-e-Urdu (celebrating Urdu), student showcases and storytelling gatherings that bring families together and celebrate the beauty of the Urdu literary tradition.
These events have become cherished occasions, cultivating a strong sense of belonging and collective identity among students and families alike.
Earlier achievements by Sydney Urdu School reflect its commitment to excellence. In 2024, one of its students was honored at the NSW Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Student Achievement for high performance in Urdu studies — a milestone that underlines both student dedication and high-quality teaching.
