US president changes position, supports release of Epstein documents
US President Donald Trump has reversed his longstanding opposition to releasing government documents related to Jeffrey Epstein
WASHINGTON, United States (MNTV) – US President Donald Trump has reversed his longstanding opposition to releasing government documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, urging House Republicans to vote in favor of full disclosure. The move follows a dramatic rupture with former ally Marjorie Taylor Greene, who resisted the push.
Trump, who spent months rallying his party to block the release, announced the shift on Truth Social, saying Republicans should allow the documents to come out because “we have nothing to hide.”
He dismissed the Democratic effort as a “hoax,” but insisted it was time for the GOP to “get back on point.”
His reversal came immediately after he cut ties with Greene for defying his initial call to oppose the release.
Trump labeled her a “traitor” and blamed her for “her own problems,” underscoring the political stakes he has attached to party unity on the issue.
With Trump now backing disclosure, the House is widely expected to approve releasing the documents—possibly as early as Tuesday. Momentum has been building after four Republicans joined Democrats last week to force a vote.
Representative Thomas Massie, one of Trump’s critics on the matter, has warned that opposing release would be seen as “protecting pedophiles.” Epstein died in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
