UAE says ADNOC strategy unchanged after OPEC exit
Abu Dhabi says state oil giant will continue global supply across oil, gas and renewables despite leaving producer alliances
DUBAI (AA) — The United Arab Emirates said Tuesday that the strategy of its state oil company remains intact after announcing its withdrawal from OPEC and OPEC+.
Sultan Al Jaber, who also heads Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), said the decision to leave the producer groups was sovereign and aligned with the country’s long-term energy plans.
He stressed that ADNOC’s focus “remains unchanged,” adding the company will continue supplying global markets reliably while expanding across oil, gas, chemicals, and low-carbon and renewable energy.
The announcement follows Abu Dhabi’s decision to exit the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and the broader OPEC+ alliance, marking a significant shift within the oil producers’ bloc.
The move comes amid heightened volatility in global energy markets driven by the U.S.-Israeli war involving Iran, which has raised concerns over supply security.
Disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz—a critical route for oil and gas shipments—have further intensified market uncertainty.
Despite the exit, ADNOC signaled it will maintain its international supply commitments, as the UAE continues to expand production capacity while investing in gas, petrochemicals and cleaner energy sources.
