Turkiye begins military training, support for Syrian army under new accord
Defense ministry source denies reports of Israeli strikes on Turkish equipment in Syria
ANKARA, Turkiye (MNTV) — Turkiye has launched training, consultancy, and technical assistance programs for Syria’s armed forces as part of a military cooperation agreement signed between the two countries last month, a Turkish defense ministry source confirmed.
The accord, concluded in August between the defense ministries of both nations, commits Turkiye to provide Damascus with military training, weapons, and logistical support.
Officials said the initiative aims to strengthen operational capacity and formalize cooperation after years of strained ties.
Speaking at a press briefing in Ankara, the ministry source dismissed claims that Israel had targeted Turkish military assets deployed in Syria, insisting there had been no damage or changes to personnel or equipment stationed in the north of the country.
