Trump warns Israel against attacking Syria
US president urges Israel to respect Syria’s new leadership, stressing dialogue and stability amid recent deadly strikes
WASHINGTON (MNTV) — U.S. President Donald Trump warned Israel against destabilizing Syria and its new leadership, following a deadly Israeli operation in southern Syria.
Trump emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong and true dialogue with Syria, stating that “nothing takes place that will interfere with Syria’s evolution into a prosperous state” on his Truth Social platform.
Trump expressed satisfaction with Syria’s performance under President Ahmad Al-Sharaa, who made a historic visit to the White House in November.
Since Sharaa’s coalition overthrew longtime ruler Bashar Assad a year ago, Trump has been advocating for a security pact between Israel and Syria.
Tensions have risen after hundreds of Israeli strikes on Syria, including the deadliest operation on Friday that killed 13 people in the south, which Israel claimed had targeted an extremist group.
Trump affirmed that Sharaa “is working diligently to make sure good things happen, and that both Syria and Israel will have a long and prosperous relationship together.”
He added that the United States is “doing everything within our power to make sure the Government of Syria continues to do what was intended” to rebuild the war-torn country.
Trump noted that strong relations between Syria and Israel would support his broader efforts toward Middle East peace following the fragile Gaza ceasefire in October.
