Trump signals possible military action if Iran negotiations fail
President Trump indicated that negative outcomes are probable if diplomatic talks with Iran do not succeed
WASHINGTON (MNTV) – President Trump indicated that negative outcomes are probable if diplomatic talks with Iran do not succeed, while confirming substantial US naval forces are moving toward the region even as negotiations continue with help from regional mediators.
Speaking at the White House, Trump acknowledged ongoing diplomatic discussions but referenced a significant American naval deployment approaching the area, presenting a combined strategy of dialogue and military readiness.
“We have ships heading to Iran right now, big ones, the biggest and the best, and we have talks going on with Iran,” Trump stated.
“If we could work something out, that’d be great. And if we can’t, probably bad things will happen.” This follows his previous announcement of a major naval “armada” deployment and urgent calls for Iran to resume nuclear program negotiations.
Intense diplomatic activity is underway with multiple regional nations serving as intermediaries.
Türkiye, Egypt, and Qatar have been central to facilitating communications, according to reports. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Istanbul last Friday.
A potential Friday meeting between US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Araghchi in Istanbul is reportedly being arranged, though details remain tentative.
The diplomatic push occurs following recent hostilities and Iranian internal challenges. A major Israeli attack on Iranian targets in June 2025, supported by Washington, prompted missile and drone retaliation from Tehran.
Iranian officials have consistently warned that American attacks would receive swift and comprehensive responses, even as reports suggest Iranian leadership has ordered resumed nuclear negotiations.
