Saudi researchers achieve breakthrough in arrhythmia diagnosis
New method improves detection of hidden heart rhythm disorders and enhances clinical decision-making and patient safety
JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia (MNTV) — King Abdulaziz University has announced a significant advancement in cardiology with the development of a new method to identify concealed heart rhythm disorders that are often missed by standard diagnostic tests.
The technique targets abnormal electrical activity in the heart that can trigger dangerously rapid heartbeats and, in some cases, life-threatening complications.
Researchers say the new approach offers a simpler and more reliable way to distinguish between harmless and high-risk rhythm irregularities.
The method was developed by electrophysiologist Dr. Ahmed Mokhtar in collaboration with Canada’s Western University as part of a joint research initiative.
The goal is to improve diagnostic precision and enable faster clinical decisions, ultimately strengthening patient care and safety outcomes.
The approach was evaluated in a study involving 24 patients, where it demonstrated clear effectiveness in differentiating serious arrhythmias from normal heart rhythms.
The research findings were published in the international journal Heart Rhythm, underscoring the study’s global scientific relevance and potential impact on clinical cardiology practices.
