Saudi-led airstrike on Yemen fuel site prompts Houthi retaliation threat
Attack near Sanaa intensifies conflict as Yemeni officials warn further strikes could trigger retaliation against Saudi energy infrastructure
SANAA, Yemen (MNTV) — A Saudi-led coalition airstrike struck an oil facility near Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, prompting Houthi officials to warn of retaliation against Saudi infrastructure if attacks on Yemen continue.
According to news sources, the strike targeted an oil facility in Al-Sabaha, west of Sanaa, amid escalating attacks involving airports and energy infrastructure. The reported strike adds to the pressure on civilians and critical facilities as fighting intensifies.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree warned that further Saudi attacks on Sanaa would provoke a response.
He identified facilities operated by Saudi Aramco, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and an oil refinery in the Saudi capital as potential targets.
The warning reflects Yemen’s stated position that Saudi Arabia cannot continue military operations without facing consequences.
However, the prospect of further attacks on energy facilities and airports also raises concerns about civilian safety and the disruption of essential services on both sides.
VOV World reported that recent Houthi attacks on Saudi airport infrastructure had caused casualties and disrupted aviation operations.
The competing strikes and threats indicate a dangerous escalation, with neither side showing clear signs of stepping back.
