Saudi Arabia allocates 25,000 Hajj slots for Russian Muslims in 2026
Saudi Arabia will provide 25,000 Hajj slots for Russian Muslims for the 2026 pilgrimage season, maintaining the existing quota
MOSCOW (MNTV) — Saudi Arabia will provide 25,000 Hajj slots for Russian Muslims for the 2026 pilgrimage season, maintaining the existing quota, a senior Russian religious official said Monday.
Mufti Rushan Abbyasov, Deputy Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation (SAM RF) for International Affairs and Hajj, told RIA Novosti that the agreement was signed in Jeddah between Russia’s Hajj Commissioner Ilyas Umakhanov and Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah Affairs Tawfiq bin Fawzan al-Rabi’ah.
Abbyasov said Saudi officials praised the Russian delegation’s organization, highlighting the discipline of pilgrims. “Minister Tawfiq bin Fawzan al-Rabi’ah praised the preparedness of Russian pilgrims and noted the presence of medical staff in each group ready to assist not only compatriots but other worshippers as well,” he said.
In 2025, Russian Muslims marked the pilgrimage in the “Year of the Defender of the Fatherland,” with 5,000 participants — members of the SVO and their relatives — taking part under a special SAM RF program.
The 2026 Hajj will take place during the final ten days of May.
