More than 50,000 guests are expected to attend over course of Ramadan, including visitors all over the world
MOSCOW (MNTV) – A “Ramadan Tent” has opened near the Memorial Mosque in western Moscow, according to NTV.
The venue will provide iftar meals to worshippers throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
Organizers said this year’s program has been expanded to include cultural and educational events aligned with the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.
Activities will be held under the slogan “Cultural Code of the Future,” with themed evenings aimed at strengthening interethnic harmony and mutual understanding among Moscow residents.
More than 50,000 guests are expected to attend over the course of Ramadan, including visitors from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan and countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
“We invite everyone to experience the history and culture of Muslims and Islam. The ‘Tent’ hosts a variety of interesting events and programs daily. These include theatrical performances and stories about various peoples and countries.
“Overall, we introduce and demonstrate our unity and commonality,” said Ildar Alyautdinov, deputy chairman of the Muslim Spiritual Directorate of the Russian Federation and mufti of Moscow.
In addition to daily iftar meals, the project will feature a chess tournament, a Quran recitation competition and the distribution of hot iftar meal boxes for those observing the fast, organizers said.
