Philippines Muslim region’s speaker honored at Saudi university
Bangsamoro Parliament Speaker Dr. Mohammad Yacob has been recognized as a distinguished alumni of the Islamic University of Madinah
MANILA, Philippines (MNTV) – Bangsamoro Parliament Speaker Dr. Mohammad Yacob has been recognized as one of the most distinguished alumni of the Islamic University of Madinah (IUM) in Saudi Arabia, reports Manila Standard.
Yacob confirmed he attended and addressed the university’s 62nd Graduation Exercises on April 27 in Madinah.
In an earlier statement, the Bangsamoro Parliament said Yacob was among five global recipients of the university’s alumni awards, cited for his achievements in academic and professional fields.
Bangsamoro Member of Parliament Ustadz Abdulkarim Tan Misuari congratulated Yacob on the recognition. “It is with immense pride and joy that we extend our warmest congratulations to Parliament Speaker Dr. Mohamad Yacob on his well-deserved recognition as the recipient of the prestigious 2026 Alumni Award from the Islamic University of Madina,” Misuari said.
“This esteemed honor, presented during the university’s 62nd Graduation Ceremony on April 27, 2026, under the distinguished patronage of Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, is a testament to his outstanding achievements and unwavering commitment to excellence,” he added.
Misuari also said the Bangsamoro Parliament “celebrates this significant milestone” and commended Yacob’s accomplishments.
