Pakistan, Egypt call for diplomatic solutions amid Middle East tensions
Foreign ministers Ishaq Dar and Badr Abdelatty emphasize negotiations and de-escalation as regional tensions persist
CAIRO (MNTV) – Pakistan and Egypt have renewed calls for diplomacy to resolve ongoing tensions in the Middle East, emphasizing the need for peaceful engagement rather than further military confrontation.
During a telephone conversation Thursday, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty exchanged views on recent developments across the region.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, both officials agreed that dialogue and diplomatic engagement offer the “only way forward” in addressing outstanding disputes.
The ministers also pledged to support initiatives aimed at reducing tensions and promoting negotiations. They agreed to maintain close coordination on regional developments and issues of shared concern.
Their discussion took place against the backdrop of renewed hostilities between Iran and the United States, despite earlier diplomatic efforts to end their confrontation.
The conflict erupted on Feb. 28 following joint US-Israeli military strikes against Iran. An April ceasefire temporarily halted the fighting, but hostilities subsequently resumed as negotiations between Washington and Tehran reached an impasse.
The renewed confrontation came despite the two countries reaching a framework agreement in June, highlighting the difficulties facing efforts to secure a lasting diplomatic settlement.
