Over 1.1 million postal ballots submitted in Bangladesh’s first digital voting system

DHAKA (MNTV) – Bangladesh’s Election Commission reported that 1,125,382 postal ballots had been delivered to returning officers by 1pm on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s inaugural technology-enabled postal voting program.
The system allows overseas Bangladeshis and certain domestic groups to participate remotely in the electoral process.
According to election officials, the submitted ballots include 488,281 from citizens living abroad and 637,101 from voters within Bangladesh.
Domestic postal voters comprise election workers, civil servants stationed outside their registered constituencies, and individuals in detention.
The commission had authorized approximately 1.528 million people to cast postal ballots for this election.
