Netanyahu calls for independent Israeli arms industry amid regional wars
Israeli leader says country must reduce reliance on foreign weapons and expand domestic military production
TEL AVIV, Israel (MNTV) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel should strengthen its domestic defense industry and lessen its dependence on foreign military supplies, while acknowledging continued support from the United States.
Speaking to participants in a reserve combat officers’ course at Kibbutz Migdal Oz in the occupied West Bank, Netanyahu said Israel’s long-term security would require greater self-sufficiency in arms production.
He expressed appreciation for military assistance provided by Washington over the years but argued that Israel must build an independent weapons manufacturing capability to secure its future defense needs.
Netanyahu said Israel remained engaged in a broader confrontation with Iran and allied groups across the region. He claimed Israeli forces had inflicted significant setbacks on their adversaries but said the conflict was ongoing.
The Israeli leader said the country’s position in the coming decades would depend on maintaining military strength and technological superiority.
He also emphasized the importance of expanding defense manufacturing, investing in advanced technologies and preparing future generations of military commanders to address emerging security challenges.
