South Korea, Qatar strengthen cooperation in energy and AI
Leaders highlight partnership in LNG trade, infrastructure, and artificial intelligence innovation to boost bilateral economic ties
SEOUL, South Korea (MNTV) — South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min-seok and Qatari Energy Minister Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi held high-level talks in Seoul to expand cooperation in the fields of energy, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and artificial intelligence (AI).
According to South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, the meeting underscored both countries’ commitment to deepening their strategic partnership across energy security and technological innovation.
Prime Minister Kim emphasized Qatar’s critical role as South Korea’s second-largest LNG supplier and acknowledged the strong commercial ties that have enabled South Korean shipbuilders to secure major LNG carrier orders from Doha.
He expressed optimism about broadening cooperation beyond energy, particularly in emerging technology sectors, saying both nations are well positioned to leverage AI for economic growth and sustainable development.
Minister Al Kaabi welcomed the prospect of deeper collaboration, commending South Korean companies for their continued role in Qatar’s infrastructure and energy projects. He reaffirmed Qatar’s intention to maintain a long-term partnership that integrates energy expertise with innovation-driven initiatives.
The talks mark another step in the two nations’ ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral trade, industrial capacity, and research partnerships, aligning with broader goals for energy diversification and digital transformation in Asia and the Gulf.
