Dubai forms committees to boost film, gaming sectors
New initiatives aim to enhance creative industries, nurture local talent, and strengthen Dubai’s global media competitiveness
DUBAI, UAE (MNTV) — Dubai has established two new specialized committees focused on advancing the emirate’s film and gaming industries, as part of its broader strategy to strengthen its position as a global hub for media innovation and creative production.
The move follows resolutions issued by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council (DMC), forming the Dubai Film Development Committee and the Dubai Gaming Committee under Resolutions No. 8 and No. 9 of 2025.
Sheikh Ahmed emphasized that the committees will play a vital role in shaping Dubai’s media future by promoting innovation, enhancing institutional frameworks, and expanding opportunities for local and international talent. He directed the development of a comprehensive operational plan to provide world-class services and facilities that support these goals.
Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of DMC, said the new committees represent a major milestone in building a sustainable and integrated media ecosystem. She noted that the initiative aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which envisions the creative economy as a key growth driver.
“The formation of these committees marks a pivotal step in reinforcing Dubai’s competitiveness while creating new opportunities for investors, content creators, and innovators,” Al Marri said, adding that the emirate’s strong digital infrastructure and agile regulations provide an ideal foundation for growth in both sectors.
The Dubai Film Development Committee, chaired by Issam Kazim, will focus on facilitating collaboration with production studios, offering specialized training for young filmmakers, and supporting emerging talent. The committee will also coordinate with local and international stakeholders to enhance film production capabilities.
The Dubai Gaming Committee, led by Khalfan Belhoul, will drive the expansion of the gaming ecosystem through partnerships, professional development programs, and support for startups. It aims to position Dubai as a leader in the regional and global gaming industry while contributing to the digital economy.
Both committees are mandated to work closely with government entities and relevant organizations to access data and insights necessary for advancing their strategic objectives.
