Lula da Silva confident of trade deal with US after meeting Trump
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has expressed confidence that a trade deal with the United States is “guaranteed”
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (MNTV) – Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has expressed confidence that a trade deal with the United States is “guaranteed” following his meeting with President Donald Trump during the ASEAN summit in Malaysia.
Lula said he expects the agreement to be finalized “faster than many people are thinking,” even though Trump made no explicit promises during their talks.
The two leaders discussed trade tariffs and sanctions that had strained relations in recent months.
Trump described the talks as productive, saying, “We should be able to make some pretty good deals for both countries.”
Lula also raised Venezuela policy, offering Brazil’s role as a mediator in US-Venezuela relations.
He pledged support for Malaysia’s bid to join BRICS, emphasizing Brazil’s leadership in expanding the bloc’s reach in Southeast Asia.
In a social media post, Lula said both sides agreed their negotiating teams would meet immediately to advance solutions on tariffs and sanctions.
