Israeli strikes kill at least 10 in Gaza despite ceasefire
Attacks on displaced shelters and camps spark renewed accusations of ceasefire violations as mediation talks continue in Egypt
GAZA, Palestine (MNTV) – At least 10 Palestinians were killed in a series of Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip, including attacks on displacement tents, as violence continued despite an ongoing ceasefire framework and diplomatic efforts to stabilize the enclave.
Gaza’s Civil Defence reported that eight people died in a drone strike on a tented area sheltering displaced families in Gaza City, while several others were injured, many of them critically, according to medical staff at al-Shifa Hospital. Women and children were reported among the casualties.
Witnesses described powerful explosions inside densely packed displacement areas, including sites near a United Nations facility, triggering panic among families who had already been forced to flee multiple times during the conflict.
Emergency responders said victims were rushed to hospitals using civilian vehicles amid chaotic scenes.
In another incident in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis area, a separate strike hit a tent shelter, killing a man reportedly due to be married later the same day.
Additional attacks elsewhere in the enclave brought the overall death toll from Saturday’s strikes to at least 10, according to local authorities.
The Israeli military said it had targeted what it described as militant operatives, though it did not provide evidence or further details regarding the specific incidents.
The latest violence has drawn renewed criticism from Palestinian officials and Hamas, which described the strikes as part of continued escalation and accused Israel of undermining the ceasefire agreement that took effect earlier in October.
Palestinian factions say repeated attacks have weakened efforts to maintain the truce and protect civilians.
The strikes came as Hamas and other Palestinian groups held meetings in Cairo with Egyptian mediators to discuss the implementation of the ceasefire deal, including humanitarian access, prisoner exchanges, and the next phase of political and security arrangements in Gaza.
Negotiations over the second phase of the agreement—intended to include broader de-escalation steps and military withdrawal—remain stalled, with both sides trading accusations over violations and delays.
As diplomacy continues in Egypt, the renewed bombardment has intensified pressure on mediators, with Palestinian representatives insisting that sustained attacks are making it increasingly difficult to advance any lasting ceasefire arrangement.
