Israeli strike kills Palestinian couple near Gaza City hospital
Israeli attack kills Akram and Dina Yassin near Al-Shifa complex as further strikes and ceasefire violations endanger civilians across Gaza
GAZA CITY, Palestine (MNTV) — An Israeli strike on a residential apartment near Gaza City’s Al-Shifa Medical Complex killed Palestinian couple Akram Yassin and Dina Yassin, while separate attacks and artillery fire injured and killed additional Palestinians across the Gaza Strip.
According to Anadolu Agency, medical sources confirmed that the couple died when an Israeli strike hit their apartment near the medical complex. Several other people were injured in the attack, adding to the toll of violence facing civilians in the besieged territory.
The strike occurred amid continuing Israeli military operations despite a ceasefire agreement that has been in effect since October 2025. The latest reported incidents have raised renewed concerns about civilian protection and the effectiveness of arrangements intended to halt hostilities.
Separately, Israeli artillery shelled areas east of the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. Information about possible deaths or injuries from that shelling was unavailable at the time of the report.
Anadolu Agency also reported that one Palestinian was killed and three others were injured in separate Israeli attacks across the territory. In the Sheikh Radwan area of western Gaza City, an Israeli drone struck a group of civilians, killing one man and injuring two others.
Another person was injured after Israeli forces opened fire toward tents sheltering displaced people southwest of Khan Younis.
The incident highlighted the continued danger facing Palestinians who have been forced from their homes and are living in temporary accommodation.
The attacks come amid the destruction of residential areas and essential infrastructure across Gaza. Repeated strikes, displacement and restrictions affecting basic services have left civilians struggling to secure shelter, medical treatment and other necessities.
Citing Gaza’s Health Ministry, Anadolu Agency reported that Israeli ceasefire violations had killed 1,522 Palestinians and injured another 5,421. The figures cover reported casualties associated with violations since the ceasefire took effect, according to the agency.
The report also cited cumulative figures showing that more than 74,000 Palestinians had been killed and more than 175,000 injured in Gaza since October 2023. Approximately 90 percent of civilian infrastructure had also been damaged, according to the same reporting.
The scale of destruction has placed enormous pressure on medical facilities, emergency responders and families attempting to recover from repeated displacement.
Damage to healthcare infrastructure also complicates the treatment of casualties and makes it more difficult for injured civilians to receive timely medical assistance.
The deaths of Akram and Dina Yassin underscore the continuing human cost of attacks on residential areas.
Their killing near Al-Shifa Medical Complex, alongside reported strikes in other parts of Gaza, demonstrates the vulnerability of civilians even during a period formally described as a ceasefire.
The latest incidents reinforce demands for effective protection of Palestinian civilians, accountability for unlawful attacks and measures to ensure that ceasefire commitments translate into a genuine reduction in violence.
