Israeli reservist faces war crimes complaint during India visit
Hind Rajab Foundation urges India to arrest Israeli reservists accused of demolishing homes in Gaza during military operations
NEW DELHI, India (MNTV) — A legal advocacy group pursuing cases related to Gaza war crimes has called on Indian authorities to arrest an Israeli military reservist currently traveling in northern India, arguing that New Delhi has an obligation under international law to investigate allegations linked to destruction in Gaza.
The complaint was filed by the Hind Rajab Foundation, a Belgium-based organization that has pursued legal cases against Israeli military personnel across multiple countries.
The organization said it submitted complaints to Indian police, immigration authorities and federal officials seeking urgent action against Israeli reservist Eitan Gilboa, who it says is currently visiting Himachal Pradesh.
According to foundation officials, the complaint is based on videos and social media material showing Gilboa participating in and documenting demolition of residential buildings during Israel’s war on Gaza.
The organization argues those actions constitute grave breaches under international humanitarian law and fall within jurisdiction of India’s obligations under Geneva Conventions legislation.
The foundation said its investigative report found that Gilboa filmed himself participating in destruction of residential buildings in areas including Khan Younis and Rafah, while videos and accompanying social media posts framed demolitions as acts of revenge dedicated to Israeli occupation soldiers killed in Gaza.
Dyab Abou Jahjah, director of Hind Rajab Foundation, said the organization believes India should not allow individuals accused of war crimes to travel freely while legal complaints remain uninvestigated.
The foundation officials also criticized growing use of post-service travel routes by Israeli military personnel following deployments in Gaza, arguing such travel should not shield individuals from accountability efforts.
According to material released by the foundation, Gilboa was born in Gaza during years of Israeli occupation before leaving the territory following Israeli withdrawal. The group claims he later returned to Gaza alongside Israeli genocide after October 2023 and documented his activities there.
The legal filing forms part of a wider international campaign by Hind Rajab Foundation, which says it has filed dozens of complaints across multiple jurisdictions targeting individuals accused of involvement in alleged war crimes during military assault in Gaza.
