Israeli forces destroy Palestinian homes and raze across West Bank, Jerusalem
Widespread destruction in occupied territories leaves homes flattened and agricultural land devastated, residents and officials say
WEST BANK, Palestine (MNTV) — Israeli forces have carried out new demolitions across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, destroying Palestinian homes and uprooting vast areas of farmland in what residents describe as an ongoing campaign of displacement and land seizure.
On Wednesday, Israeli security forces demolished two Palestinian homes, citing lack of building permits. In Al-Sawahra in the Jerusalem Governorate, a two-story house belonging to Mustafa Zaatra was torn down. Another home in Shuqba, west of Ramallah, belonging to Abdul Halim Thabet and housing seven family members, was also destroyed, according to the Palestinian Wafa news agency.
The Shuqba residence reportedly included a swimming pool and a playground. Witnesses said Israeli forces fired live ammunition near residential areas during the demolitions, though no injuries were reported.
In Hebron, Israeli bulldozers uprooted thousands of trees and devastated large stretches of farmland. Over the past three days, more than 200,000 square meters of land have been leveled for the expansion of the Route 60 bypass road, a project intended to serve Israeli settlements. The operation resulted in the destruction of tens of thousands of productive grapevines east of Hebron, according to Wafa.
A widely circulated image showed Israeli security forces standing guard as excavators demolished a Palestinian house in al-Dirat village near Yatta, reinforcing concerns over the scale and frequency of demolitions in the region.
The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission reported in April that Israeli authorities had demolished 37 homes, 34 agricultural structures, and five livelihood facilities across the occupied territories, with the highest concentration in Jerusalem, Ramallah, Al-Bireh, and Bethlehem.
Since the occupation of the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem in 1967, Israeli policies have repeatedly involved demolitions and land clearance operations widely viewed as aimed at restricting Palestinian urban development while facilitating settlement expansion and military infrastructure.
These actions have drawn growing international scrutiny, with allegations related to war crimes and genocide in the occupied Palestinian territories currently being examined by both the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice.
