Israel kills 3 Palestinians in Gaza despite US-backed truce
Drone strikes and shelling continue across Gaza as civil defense teams recover hundreds of bodies from homes destroyed by Israeli attacks
GAZA, Palestine (MNTV) — Israeli forces killed three Palestinians in separate attacks across Gaza, further undermining a U.S.-backed ceasefire that has failed to prevent continued Israeli violence against the besieged territory, according to local medical sources cited by Anadolu.
One Palestinian was killed when an Israeli drone struck his bicycle near the Industrial Junction in Gaza City. In southern Gaza, another Palestinian was killed and several others were wounded when Israeli forces targeted a tent sheltering displaced people near Khan Younis.
A young Palestinian man also died after being critically wounded when an Israeli drone struck a home in the Al-Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City. Medical personnel at Al-Shifa Hospital said he succumbed to his injuries.
Israeli forces also shelled areas east of Gaza City and Khan Younis, according to an Anadolu correspondent, adding to the continuing attacks despite the ceasefire arrangement.
The latest violence underscores what Palestinian officials and rights advocates describe as the failure of the ceasefire to provide meaningful protection for civilians. Gaza residents remain exposed to drone strikes, shelling and attacks while hundreds of thousands continue to live in temporary shelters after being displaced from their homes.
Meanwhile, Gaza’s civil defense teams are continuing the grim task of recovering bodies from the ruins of homes destroyed in earlier Israeli attacks. The civil defense authority said its teams had recovered 233 bodies from beneath the rubble of 20 destroyed homes.
Mohammed Abu Dan, who heads a project dedicated to recovering victims’ remains, said the bodies were among those of about 400 people previously reported missing. The recovered remains included 73 children and 106 women.
The recovery operation entered its second phase in mid-July but has been severely constrained by shortages of equipment and other resources, making the search for victims beneath collapsed buildings even more difficult.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said more than 1,300 Palestinians have been killed and over 4,000 wounded since the US-brokered ceasefire ostensibly took effect in October 2025.
Since Israel launched its war on Gaza in October 2023, more than 73,400 Palestinians have been killed and over 174,400 wounded, according to the ministry. Much of the destruction has affected civilian homes and infrastructure.
The continued Israeli attacks despite a ceasefire have left Palestinians facing renewed deaths and injuries while the remains of hundreds of victims remain buried beneath destroyed homes, highlighting the devastating human cost of Israel’s campaign in Gaza.
