Iraq, Saudi Arabia to largest silica-based industrial complex in Anbar
Landmark deal aims to boost Iraq’s industrial capacity and deepen bilateral economic ties
BAGHDAD, Iraq (MNTV) – Iraq announced the signing of a landmark cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Ajyal Company to establish the largest integrated industrial complex for silica-based projects in Anbar province.
The agreement was signed under the patronage of Iraq’s Industry Minister Khaled Battal Al-Najm, according to Iraqi News Agency.
It brings together Iraq’s General Company for Glass and Refractories and Saudi Arabia’s Ajyal Company in a joint venture that signals a major step forward in bilateral industrial cooperation.
According to the ministry, the upcoming complex will utilize locally sourced silica as a primary material to manufacture a wide range of industrial products.
These will include flat glass, bottles, jars, ceramic sanitary ware, ceramic tiles, electric glass insulators, and sodium silicate, among others.
“The agreement represents a major turning point in industrial cooperation between Iraq and Saudi Arabia,” Minister Battal stated, adding that the initiative aligns with the ministry’s broader vision of strengthening Iraq’s industrial capacity and diversifying its sources of income.
The project is expected to have a wide-reaching impact on Iraq’s economy by enhancing local manufacturing, creating job opportunities, and advancing economic sustainability.
It also serves as a strategic milestone in establishing a robust industrial base capable of supporting future development.
Officials said the complex is projected to drive a qualitative leap in the Iraqi industrial sector and solidify a sustainable model for economic collaboration between Iraq and Saudi Arabia.
