Israeli strikes kill child in Gaza and man in West Bank
Latest attacks occur despite ceasefire as casualties continue to mount in Gaza and occupied Palestinian territories
GAZA CITY, Palestine (MNTV) – Israeli military in Gaza and the occupied West Bank killed at least two Palestinians on Wednesday, including a 12-year-old child, according to Palestinian health officials.
Medical personnel at Nasser Medical Complex in southern Gaza said a child was killed and several others were injured after an Israeli drone strike hit a tent sheltering displaced families in the al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis.
The attack occurred in an area previously designated by Israel as a humanitarian safe zone. Health officials reported that at least seven people were wounded in the strike.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, more than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 3,000 injured in Israeli attacks since a ceasefire came into effect in October 2025.
The ministry said the overall death toll in Gaza since the start of the war in October 2023 has reached more than 73,000, while over 173,000 people have been wounded.
The incident came one day after a United Nations commission of inquiry released findings alleging that Palestinian children have been deliberately targeted during the conflict.
The commission’s chair, Justice Muralidhar, said children continued to face deadly attacks despite the ceasefire and stressed that international legal protections for children must be upheld.
Health workers in Gaza have also warned that ongoing restrictions on the entry of medical supplies and medicines are hampering efforts to treat the wounded.
Meanwhile, in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Health Ministry said Israeli forces killed 29-year-old Mohammed Nazem Zayed during a military raid in the town of al-Yamoun, west of Jenin.
Palestinian officials said Israeli forces surrounded a house where Zayed was located and opened fire during the operation. The ministry added that Israeli authorities were withholding his body.
Palestinian authorities say at least 71 Palestinians have been killed in the occupied West Bank since the beginning of 2026.
Since the outbreak of the Gaza genocide in 2023, Palestinian officials report that military operations and settler-related violence in the West Bank have killed more than 1,100 Palestinians, injured thousands and displaced tens of thousands of residents.
