ISLAMABAD (MNTV) — Talks between Iran and the U.S. in Islamabad entered the expert-level stage as economic, military, legal, and nuclear committees joined, the Iranian government said on its X account.
Negotiations continue at the Serena Hotel to finalize technical details.
An Iranian journalist who is in Islamabad said both sides initially entered the process with characteristically mutually exclusive positions. However, there are now cautious indications that some space for movement has begun to emerge.
In particular, conversations are said to have touched on limiting Israeli military activity in Lebanon, the possible unfreezing of Iranian assets, an issue of acute importance for Tehran’s economic stability, and questions related to the security of the Strait of Hormuz.
He added that this points to a tentative willingness to engage beyond rigid opening demands. Much of what is circulating at this stage is being relayed discreetly. Officials, especially those in Pakistan, have largely avoided speaking on the record.
Dr. Marandi, part of Iranian delegation, earlier said: “We do not trust the Americans. They started this war of aggression and Iran is perfectly capable of returning to this war. But we will give peace a chance. But not based on promises or words. But actions. Actions are how this diplomatic process can gain our trust.”
