Iran unveils high-speed missile boat capable of speed 116 knots
IRGC Navy says new vessel marks major leap in domestic naval technology and regional defense
TEHRAN, Iran (MNTV) — Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has announced the development of a new domestically produced missile-launching vessel capable of reaching speeds of 116 knots, equivalent to approximately 215 kilometers per hour.
The announcement was made by IRGC Navy Commander Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, who said the new high-speed craft had successfully completed all technical and specialized testing.
“We have built a missile-launching vessel that has a speed of 116 knots, which is the land equivalent of 215 kilometers per hour. It has completed all technical and specialized tests,” Tangsiri stated.
He noted that the IRGC Navy manufactures its own vessels, missiles, drones, and underwater systems, underscoring a push for indigenous defense capabilities.
Tangsiri also emphasized the IRGC’s role in securing regional waters. “We work tirelessly day and night to ensure the security of the Persian Gulf,” he said.
Recalling Iran’s naval limitations prior to the 1979 Islamic Revolution, he contrasted the current advancements with the era when the country relied on American companies for even small fishing boats.
He cited the Shahid Soleimani-class vessel as a product of this transformation, capable of sailing up to 5,000 nautical miles nonstop in open oceans.
