Iran unveils ‘Fattah-2’ hypersonic ballistic missile
The system, capable of speeds near Mach 5 and a range of more than 1,400 kilometers, is designed for land, sea, and air launches
TEHRAN, Iran (MNTV) — Iran has introduced the “Fattah-2,” a hypersonic ballistic missile system with an operational range exceeding 1,400 kilometers, state-run Fars news agency reported.
The missile measures about 12 meters in length and weighs roughly 4,000 kilograms.
Its warhead, estimated at 500 kilograms, is designed to reach speeds of around Mach 5. The first stage has a diameter of 80 centimeters, narrowing to 50 centimeters in the second stage.
Officials said the missile’s key features include high velocity, maneuverability, and launch capability from land-, sea-, and air-based platforms.
The system is equipped with maneuverable warheads capable of glide and cruise flight profiles, placing it in the categories of hypersonic glide vehicles and hypersonic cruise missiles.
