Iran rejects allegations over alleged Kolang mountain nuclear site

TEHRAN, Iran (MNTV) — Iran has dismissed renewed allegations by the United States that it is operating a secret nuclear facility at Kolang Mountain, accusing Washington of fabricating claims to justify threats of military aggression against the country.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said there were no nuclear activities taking place at Kolang Mountain and described repeated US accusations as an attempt to create a false pretext for attacks, sabotage and further escalation.

Baqaei said all of Iran’s nuclear activities have been declared to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), rejecting claims that the country is concealing an underground nuclear complex.

His remarks came after US President Donald Trump threatened military action against the site, known internationally as Pickaxe Mountain. 

Trump said the United States was prepared to strike the area despite publicly announcing the potential target beforehand.

Iran has repeatedly denied reports published by several US media outlets in 2025 alleging that it was expanding a secret underground nuclear facility inside Kolang Mountain. Tehran has consistently maintained that the allegations are baseless and politically motivated.

The mountain is located near Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility, which was bombed by the United States during the June 2025 conflict, an attack widely condemned by Tehran as a violation of international law and the UN Charter.

Iranian officials have continued to accuse Washington of using unsubstantiated intelligence claims to justify military threats, warning that such rhetoric further undermines regional stability and diplomatic efforts surrounding Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
