Iran Red Crescent says 6,668 civilian sites struck in US-Israeli attacks
Aid group says thousands of homes, schools and health facilities were hit, calling the strikes violations of the Geneva Conventions
TEHRAN (MNTV) — The Iranian Red Crescent Society said Saturday that 6,668 civilian locations across Iran have been targeted in attacks carried out by the United States and Israel.
In a statement, the aid group said the strikes damaged a wide range of civilian infrastructure nationwide.
According to the organization, the sites hit included 5,535 residential buildings, 1,041 commercial units, 14 health centers, 65 schools, and 13 facilities operated by the Red Crescent.
The group also reported damage to multiple rescue and aid vehicles during the attacks.
Several relief workers and Red Crescent personnel were injured.
The statement said the targeting of civilian infrastructure violates the Geneva Conventions, which set rules to protect civilians and humanitarian workers during armed conflict.
It called on international institutions, humanitarian agencies and human rights organizations to take urgent steps to safeguard civilians, ensure the safety of aid workers and uphold international humanitarian law.
The figures come amid intensifying hostilities following reported U.S. and Israeli strikes on sites across Iran.
