Iran denounces Abraham Accords as ‘Pharaoh’s Pact’
Senior Iranian security official says during Moscow security forum US-backed normalization efforts with Israel would deepen instability
TEHRAN, Iran (MNTV) — A senior Iranian security official on Thursday sharply criticized the Abraham Accords and rejected U.S. calls for broader normalization between Israel and countries in West Asia, describing the initiative as a “Pharaoh’s Pact” that would increase instability across the region.
Ali Baqeri, deputy secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, made the remarks after a three-day visit to Moscow, where he attended an international meeting of high-ranking security officials.
Speaking to reporters, Baqeri responded to suggestions by U.S. President Donald Trump that countries in the region, including Iran, should sign normalization agreements with Israel.
“Contrary to what the Americans and Zionists portray — that the Abraham Accords can bring peace and tranquility to the region — this plan is nothing but a lie,” Baqeri said, according to Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency and Pars Today.
“The reality is the ‘Pharaoh’s Pact,’ spearheaded by a murderous, child-killing pharaonic regime, and promoting this idea will only spread instability and insecurity in the region,” he added.
Baqeri said Iran’s position during meetings with senior security representatives from other countries was welcomed and centered on establishing what he described as a “new equation” for regional peace and stability following recent military attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran.
He said the proposed security framework should include participation by regional countries, rejection of U.S. intervention and opposition to Israeli influence in regional affairs.
Baqeri also described the Moscow gathering as a platform for countries opposing U.S. unilateralism and a forum aimed at strengthening cooperation among states that reject Washington’s efforts to impose its policies on other nations.
The Iranian official accused Israel of seeking to expand its territory and destabilize the region.
“The Zionist regime has openly declared that it seeks to expand its illegitimate borders and intends to occupy other countries in the region,” he said.
Baqeri further linked the former U.S.-backed “Greater Middle East” initiative with a current Israeli-driven “Greater Israel” plan.
“Both plans share the same nature and are rooted in American unilateralism, with the Zionists, as followers and mercenaries of the Americans, seeking to play the role of hegemon in the region,” he said.
Iran has consistently opposed the Abraham Accords, the U.S.-backed normalization agreements signed between Israel and several Arab states beginning in 2020, arguing that they undermine Palestinian rights and regional stability.
