Resistance group intensifies counterattacks against charging Israeli forces while IDF strikes towns north of Lebanon-Israel border, killing civilians
BEIRUT, Lebanon (MNTV) — Hezbollah fighters continue to confront Israeli forces along Lebanon’s southern border, as clashes escalate in response to ongoing Israeli violations of the country’s sovereignty.
The developments follow repeated cross-border incursions by Israel and its military’s strikes across the region to expand its control.
In its latest statement, Hezbollah said it struck an advancing Israeli Merkava tank in the Tayyibah area of the Baalbek region using a guided missile.
The group stated that the attack raises the number of Israeli tanks hit to five in the past three days, saying the actions are defensive responses to Israeli ground advances.
Video released by Hezbollah’s military media showed heavy gunfire and active engagement on the frontlines, highlighting the intensity of the confrontation.
The group recently announced it would no longer exercise restraint, accusing Israel of systematically violating the November 2024 ceasefire agreement that was intended to stop a deadly wave of attacks on Lebanon.
That earlier escalation led to significant loss of life, including the killing of Hezbollah’s former leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, amid Israeli strikes. Since then, Israeli military activity has continued across Lebanese areas, keeping tensions at a sustained high.
In a recent speech, Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against further aggression, rejecting threats against his life and asserting that continued Israeli actions would be met with firm resistance.
He reiterated that defending Lebanon remains the group’s central objective in the face of ongoing Israeli attacks.
