GTA Alert! Gas Prices Are Decreasing, but Don’t Expect Immediate Changes.
The cost of living in a global village comes with its challenges! Canadians may be thousands of miles away from the epicenter of the ongoing conflict involving America and Israel’s unprovoked actions against Iran, yet we still feel the ramifications of their geopolitical ambitions.
Analyst reports suggest that gas prices are expected to decline across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) starting mid-week, but experts caution it could take months for prices to stabilize.
According to Dan McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, drivers in the GTA can expect a reduction from 165 cents per liter to 161 cents per liter beginning Wednesday.
In early trading, Brent crude oil fell by more than $4 per barrel, with the benchmark down by over $4.50.
One expert noted that current oil prices, trading at approximately US$80 per barrel, are likely to remain at this level for the foreseeable future.
“This is probably as low as we’re going to get,” McTeague stated in an interview with a popular local news outlet.
He explained that various factors are contributing to higher oil prices. Many oil fields in conflict-affected regions have been damaged or temporarily shut down. Restarting oil production in these areas could take considerable time. Additionally, oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz may take months to reach their destinations.
“These situations will not be resolved in days, weeks, or even months, perhaps even years,” McTeague warned.
Currently, gas prices at stations across the GTA range from approximately 142 cents to 155 cents per liter.
**News Flash! ** En-Pro, the leading Canadian energy experts, warn that gas prices are expected to remain stable at 12:01 am on June 16, 2026, with Regular priced at 166.9 cents per liter, Premium at 201.9 cents, and Diesel at 191.9 cents. A price decline may occur later in the week if the situation on the front lines remains peaceful.
