Gaza ceasefire deal ‘remains on paper’ as killings go on: Palestine
Palestinian Authority says at least 28 people have been killed since Friday's agreement, accusing Israel of continuing its assault
RAMALLAH, Palestine (MNTV) — The Palestinian Authority said Monday that an agreement to implement the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire “remains on paper,” as Israeli attacks continue to kill Palestinians on the ground.
At least 18 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza on Sunday, a day after 10 others were killed by Israeli fire — all despite a ceasefire nominally in effect since Oct. 10, 2025.
“The announcement of the agreement did not lead to a comprehensive halt to the aggression or the protection of the Palestinian people,” said Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for the Authority, which exercises limited self-rule in the occupied West Bank. His statement was carried by the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.
Abu Rudeineh said Israel was continuing “its all-out war” against Palestinians despite the announced deal, and warned against what he called its disregard for international efforts to stop its genocide of Palestinians.
He renewed a call for the UN Security Council to force Israel to implement the second phase, halt operations in Gaza and the West Bank including East Jerusalem, and provide international protection for Palestinians. Lasting peace, he said, requires ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The agreement was announced Friday by US President Donald Trump and the Board of Peace, the international body overseeing the ceasefire framework, which said Hamas had accepted a detailed roadmap. Israel has not officially commented on the proposal.
Since October 2023, Israel’s genocide in Gaza has killed more than 73,000 people and wounded over 174,000, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. Despite the Oct. 10 ceasefire, the ministry says Israeli attacks have killed a further 1,250 Palestinians and wounded 4,110.
