Erbil in Iraq workshop nurtures creativity, builds vibrant art community
Space offers painting, crafts, and marketing opportunities for artists of all ages
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (MNTV) — A young artist from Duhok has transformed her passion for painting and crafts into a thriving creative space, turning “Kortisan” workshop into a recognized hub for art and community engagement in Erbil.
After graduating from the College of Fine Arts, founder Lulav spent several years working outside her field before returning to art and launching the workshop.
Over the years, Kortisan has become a venue where artists of all skill levels gather to paint, craft, and create models, either individually or in collaborative settings.
The workshop regularly schedules activities, with participants registering in advance. All tools and materials are provided, removing barriers for those wishing to explore their creativity.
In addition to fostering artistic expression, Kortisan features a marketing component that allows participants to showcase and sell their works.
“This opportunity has helped many turn hobbies into an additional source of income, while others simply enjoy the creative process,” Lulav noted.
The space welcomes individuals of all ages and backgrounds, offering a comfortable, well-equipped environment. Direct interaction between professional and amateur artists has cultivated a close-knit community where members exchange ideas and support one another.
Highlighting the region’s untapped creative energy, Lulav stressed the importance of providing opportunities for young talent to flourish. She expressed plans to expand the workshop into other provinces and develop it into a multidisciplinary art center that promotes aesthetic culture across society.
