Egypt launches Bright Star 2025 drills with broad multinational participation
Annual exercise brings together Saudi, Egyptian, and allied forces to strengthen joint readiness
CAIRO, Egypt (MNTV) — Egypt has officially launched the Bright Star 2025 military exercise, one of the Middle East’s largest multinational drills, with the participation of the Saudi Armed Forces and troops from several allied nations.
The Egyptian Armed Forces, hosting the event, confirmed that the exercise is designed to strengthen combat preparedness, enhance coordination among partners, and build interoperability across multinational units.
Saudi Arabia announced the arrival of active units from its Army, Navy, Air Force, and Air Defence Forces to take part in the training.
Major General Adel bin Mohammed Al-Balawi, head of the Armed Forces Training and Development Authority, said the Kingdom’s participation falls under its 1446–1447 AH training plan, which includes both domestic and international exercises.
He emphasized that the joint drills aim to bolster operational alignment, develop shared capabilities, and raise the readiness of participating forces.
He also noted that such engagements reflect broader cooperation between Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and other friendly states.
Bright Star, first held in 1980, has grown into one of the region’s most significant defense events, drawing contributions from numerous countries and international organizations.
The 2025 edition underscores Egypt’s central role in regional security cooperation while highlighting the commitment of its partners to collective defense.
