Democrats demand cognitive evaluation of Trump after week of inflammatory Iran rhetoric
Raskin has formally demanded that the White House physician conduct an immediate cognitive and neurological evaluation of Trump
WASHINGTON, United States (MNTV) – Democratic Representative Jamie Raskin has formally demanded that the White House physician conduct an immediate cognitive and neurological evaluation of President Donald Trump, citing a week of increasingly inflammatory statements tied to the Iran conflict.
In a letter to White House physician Captain Sean Barbabella, Raskin — the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee — asked for a comprehensive neuropsychological assessment, public release of the results and a congressional briefing under oath by April 24.
He said Trump’s recent conduct had raised urgent questions about whether the president is mentally fit to serve as commander in chief, pointing specifically to an Easter Sunday social media post directed at Iran and a later message warning that “a whole civilization will die tonight.”
Raskin wrote that the country had watched Trump’s public comments become “increasingly incoherent, volatile, profane, deranged, and threatening,” and asked the physician to report on Trump’s current physical and mental condition.
