Dana Gas accelerates Iraq expansion, targets major output boost
KM250 project ahead of schedule as company invests $160 M in Chemchemal field
BAGHDAD, Iraq (MNTV) — Dana Gas, one of the Middle East’s largest natural gas producers, has reported steady progress on its Iraq operations, with first-half 2025 output from the Khor Mor field averaging more than 500 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD).
The company said production temporarily dipped in the second quarter due to a scheduled maintenance program in April, but work was completed ahead of schedule, and output has since returned to normal levels.
Construction of the KM250 expansion project—which will add 250 MMSCFD to Pearl Petroleum’s total capacity—is advancing faster than expected, reported Iraqi News.
Dana Gas attributed the acceleration to a more hands-on project management approach. Once completed, the expansion will increase both production volumes and company revenues by boosting total output by nearly 50 percent.
In addition to Khor Mor, the company is moving forward with development at the Chemchemal field, located west of Sulaymaniyah and southeast of Kirkuk.
The $160 million investment includes drilling and site preparation for an extended well test facility capable of producing up to 75 MMSCFD in its initial phase.
Dana Gas said both projects underscore its long-term commitment to strengthening Iraq’s energy supply and supporting economic growth through expanded natural gas production.
