China unveils prototype missile shield as US advances ‘Golden Dome’ project

BEIJING, China (MNTV) — China has rolled out a prototype of a global missile defense system capable of tracking and analyzing large-scale attacks, according to a report by the South China Morning Post.

The platform, described as a “distributed early warning detection big data system,” is designed to monitor up to 1,000 missiles launched at China from anywhere in the world.

It integrates data from space, sea, air and ground-based sensors to detect threats and determine flight paths, weapon types, and whether the payloads are genuine warheads or decoys.

The information is then processed through secure military networks to guide interception systems.

Developers say the technology can combine data from various military sources at high speed, enabling real-time responses to mass missile launches.

If fully operational, it would be the first defense system offering global coverage, the report said.

The announcement comes as the United States accelerates its own initiative.

In May, President Donald Trump confirmed he had approved the structure of the “Golden Dome” — a $175 billion project aimed at building a multi-layered defense grid capable of detecting and destroying missiles worldwide within three years.

Both systems highlight a growing strategic competition between Washington and Beijing.

While presented as defensive measures, analysts caution that such developments could intensify global security rivalries and reshape nuclear deterrence dynamics.
