Cairo hosts World Arabic Language celebrations
Three-day cultural program highlights Arabic calligraphy, music, and heritage at Egypt’s National Museum of Civilization
CAIRO, Egypt (MNTV) — A three-day cultural program celebrating World Arabic Language Day began in Egypt’s capital on Sunday, bringing together artists, scholars, and visitors to honor the history and artistic evolution of the Arabic language.
Held at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, the event is organized under the theme “A Renewed Heritage in a Radiant Script,” reflecting the enduring cultural significance of Arabic writing and expression.
The program features a series of exhibitions showcasing classical and contemporary Arabic calligraphy, alongside live musical performances using traditional Arabic instruments.
Visitors are also attending seminars and interactive workshops designed to explore the language’s historical roots and its modern creative adaptations.
Demonstrations by calligraphers have drawn particular attention, with artists inscribing visitors’ names in traditional Arabic styles, offering a hands-on experience of the script’s aesthetic depth.
Organizers say the event aims to promote greater appreciation of the Arabic language as both a cultural heritage and a living, evolving form of artistic expression, especially among younger generations.
World Arabic Language Day is observed annually to recognize the language’s global cultural and historical contributions.
