Belgian embassy staffer identified for pasting ‘wanted’ posters of Netanyahu in Delhi
Diplomatic immunity shields Belgian national from action as India submits report to ministries
NEW DELHI, India (MNTV) — Delhi Police has traced a Belgian national, employed at the Embassy of Belgium in New Delhi, as the individual behind the posting of “wanted” posters featuring Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the city’s diplomatic enclave of Chanakyapuri.
According to police officials, the posters were first noticed nearly two weeks ago in the high-security zone that hosts several foreign missions. Following an internal inquiry, it was determined that the person responsible was a Belgian embassy staffer carrying a diplomatic passport.
Authorities confirmed that no legal or punitive action was taken due to the staffer’s diplomatic immunity under international conventions.
However, Delhi Police has compiled and forwarded a detailed report on the incident to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for further review.
The matter underscores sensitivities in India’s diplomatic district, where foreign embassies and high commissions are located under heightened security surveillance.
