Bangladesh, Vietnam seek deeper trade ties through new business partnerships
Dhaka and Hanoi expand industrial, tourism and business partnerships as both countries pursue broader regional trade integration plans across Asia
DHAKA, Bangladesh (MNTV) — Bangladesh and Vietnam are seeking deeper economic cooperation as the two export-driven Asian economies move to expand trade, manufacturing and investment partnerships amid shifting regional supply chains and growing competition for foreign investment.
The push was highlighted during a business forum in Dhaka on Tuesday where companies from both countries explored partnerships in industrial machinery, engineering, tourism, agriculture and technology sectors. Officials and business leaders described the engagement as part of broader efforts to strengthen economic integration between South and Southeast Asia.
Around 200 Bangladeshi companies and 25 Vietnamese firms participated in the discussions, reflecting growing commercial interest between the two countries as both attempt to position themselves as regional manufacturing and export hubs.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Bangladesh Nguyen Manh Quang said Bangladesh and Vietnam hold “significant potential” for expanded cooperation in trade, industry and investment.
Vietnamese companies showcased industrial machinery, electric motors, engineering services and medical tourism packages, while businesses from both countries signed multiple cooperation agreements involving manufacturing equipment, tourism services and commercial expansion initiatives.
One agreement will allow Vietnamese firm Hong Qi to supply high-tech welding machines and mechanical equipment to Bangladesh through local partner Padma Communication, supporting Bangladesh’s growing industrial sector. Another deal between Asia DMC Vietnam and Rupsha Air Services aims to expand medical and tourism services for Bangladeshi travelers visiting Vietnam.
Officials from both countries said Bangladesh and Vietnam possess complementary economic strengths, with Bangladesh offering a large consumer market and expanding industrial workforce, while Vietnam has become one of Asia’s fastest-growing manufacturing exporters.
Analysts say stronger Bangladesh-Vietnam cooperation could help both countries diversify export markets and reduce dependence on traditional economic partners as global supply chains continue shifting across Asia.
