Bahrain launches aviation English program to boost tourism
Partnership with Embry-Riddle enhances language training for pilots, attracting international students and strengthening education-based tourism
MANAMA, Bahrain (MNTV) — Bahrain is positioning itself as a global hub for aviation training through a new Aviation English program, launched in partnership between the Gulf Aviation Academy (GAA) and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
According to Travel and Tour World, the initiative aims to enhance aviation language proficiency while promoting the Kingdom’s growing education-focused tourism sector.
Announced at the Bahrain International Airshow in November 2024, the program is designed to attract aviation professionals and students worldwide, providing specialized courses including English for Flight Training, Air Traffic Control, and Flight Assessment.
Training aligns with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards, ensuring graduates are qualified to operate safely in international airspace.
GAA, already a leading aviation training institution in Bahrain, will combine its expertise with Embry-Riddle’s world-class education system to deliver a comprehensive curriculum.
The program strengthens GAA’s capacity to attract global talent and reinforces Bahrain’s reputation as a premier destination for aviation education in the Middle East and North Africa.
Officials highlighted that improving language proficiency among pilots, air traffic controllers, and other aviation personnel is essential for safety, operational efficiency, and compliance with global standards. Graduates of the program are expected to become highly sought-after professionals in international airlines and aviation organizations.
The initiative is also expected to boost Bahrain’s tourism industry by attracting long-term international students, generating demand for accommodations, transportation, and local services.
Educational tourism is becoming a key component of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 strategy, diversifying the economy beyond traditional sectors such as oil and gas.
Officials said the partnership further strengthens Bahrain’s strategic role in global aviation while opening opportunities for future collaborations with airlines and aviation institutions worldwide.
By combining training excellence with tourism promotion, Bahrain aims to establish a sustainable model that benefits both the economy and the aviation sector.
