Islamic finance surges over 82pc in Kyrgyzstan
The loan portfolio expanded 35.2 percent to 460.6 billion soms, while financing structured under Islamic principles surged 82.4 percent to 16.5 billion soms
BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan (MNTV) — Kyrgyzstan’s banking sector recorded sharp growth in the first nine months of 2025, with assets, loans and deposits all rising at double-digit rates, the National Bank said Wednesday.
As of Sept. 30, the country operated 21 commercial banks and 305 branches. Total banking assets climbed 38 percent since January to 1.1258 trillion soms.
The loan portfolio expanded 35.2 percent to 460.6 billion soms, while financing structured under Islamic principles surged 82.4 percent to 16.5 billion soms.
Deposits also rose significantly, increasing 35.7 percent to 804.1 billion soms, according to the central bank.
