Türkiye deploys homegrown electro-optical sight system to bolster defense

ISTANBUL, Türkiye (MNTV) — Türkiye has added a domestically developed electro-optical reconnaissance, surveillance, and targeting system to its defense inventory, strengthening the operational capabilities of its security forces.

Ankara-based defense company Asisguard announced that its Aggöz Gimbal 275 sight system has successfully completed field testing and is now officially in service. 

The system, the result of extensive research and development, is designed to serve as a critical “eye” for Türkiye’s air, land, and sea platforms.

Equipped with a high-resolution daytime camera, a cooled thermal camera for uninterrupted night and adverse-weather vision, a laser rangefinder, automatic target tracking, and advanced image stabilization, the Aggöz Gimbal 275 is capable of long-term reconnaissance and precision targeting.

Asisguard emphasized that the system will provide a significant boost to surveillance operations, border security, and counterterrorism missions, ensuring both present effectiveness and adaptability for future needs.

Barış Düzgün, General Manager and CEO of Asisguard, highlighted the firm’s achievements in developing indigenous defense technologies and expanding their export footprint. 

“Surveillance and visibility are tremendously important in today’s combat environment. High-performance electro-optical systems are essential for detecting targets at long distances quickly and accurately,” he told Anadolu Agency.

Düzgün added that the Aggöz Gimbal 275 will deliver critical advantages to security forces and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to further enhancing its systems while working on new defense platforms.
