Security camera footage at Al-Noor Islamic Community Center in the Canadian city of Waterloo showed a woman on December 28 picking up some snow and drawing crosses on every window she was able to reach.
After doing this twice, her messages became hate-fueled attacks on Muslims written with an oily substance that mosque officials have not been able to clean up completely.
Ahmed Abouzid, the mosque’s imam, watched the woman circle the building minutes before people began arriving for prayer at 7 a.m.
He has filed a police report of the incident, but said he does not want to get the woman in trouble.
He attributed the hate-fueled messages to ignorance.
The Imam said he plans to hold an event at the center within the next month to teach the community more about Islam.
