Turksat launches satellite internet in Syria boosting digital services

ANKARA, Türkiye (MNTV) — Turkish satellite operator Turksat has activated satellite-based internet access across several regions of Syria, enabling digital public services, e-government platforms, and emergency communication systems in areas lacking ground infrastructure.

The initiative follows official meetings held this week in Damascus between Turkish and Syrian authorities. 

According to Anadolu Agency, Turksat’s Ka-Band internet service, delivered via the Turksat 5B satellite, is now operational in key Syrian locations that previously had limited or no access to digital networks.

Satellite terminals have been deployed in areas where conventional fiber or cable infrastructure is unavailable, providing high-speed and uninterrupted connectivity to support administrative operations, public communication, and crisis response.

Alongside internet access, Turksat has begun offering integrated solutions for television and radio broadcasting, e-government services, and dedicated network architecture tailored to Syria’s reconstruction and digital modernization efforts.

“Turksat’s satellite internet capabilities will support both daily services and critical infrastructure in Syria,” a company representative said. “The system enables reliable communication, especially vital in disaster-prone or remote zones where traditional infrastructure is lacking.”

The operator said it plans to continue installing additional terminals across Syria to expand its coverage footprint and support broader access to communication tools and government services.
