Trump sets Tuesday 8 p.m. deadline for Iran deal, threatens to destroy power plants if no agreement reached
Trump sharpened his ultimatum, warning that failure to reopen the strait by Tuesday evening would trigger unprecedented strikes
WASHINGTON, United States (MNTV) – President Donald Trump has set a Tuesday evening deadline for a deal with Iran, warning that the country would lose “every power plant and every other facility” if it fails to reopen the Strait of Hormuz in time.
Trump posted “Tuesday, 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time” on Truth Social without elaboration, after telling Fox News there was “a good chance tomorrow” of a deal and separately telling Axios an agreement could come by Tuesday.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, he sharpened his ultimatum, warning that failure to reopen the strait by Tuesday evening would trigger strikes on all of Iran’s power plants and major facilities. He also said he was considering “blowing everything up” and “taking over the oil” if Iran did not act quickly enough.
Trump remained vague on when the war would end overall, saying only that he would inform the public “pretty soon,” and claimed rebuilding Iran after U.S.-Israeli strikes would take 20 years — “if they’re lucky.”
The cryptic Tuesday post appears to extend by one day an earlier announced pause on strikes against Iranian energy infrastructure, which Trump said was made at Iran’s request. Iran has not responded to Trump’s claims that a deal may be imminent.
The U.S. and Israel have conducted strikes on Iran since February 28, killing more than 1,340 people including former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
