Trump says Iran deal signed, text to be released soon
US president signals agreement framework with Iran, linking sanctions relief to compliance measures and verification steps
WASHINGTON (MNTV) – US President Donald Trump has said that an agreement with Iran has already been signed and that the full text of the deal will be made public after a formal signing ceremony expected later this week.
Speaking on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, Trump said the agreement had been finalized digitally and that the Strait of Hormuz would be fully reopened as part of the arrangement.
He added that the public release of the document would follow the scheduled signing in Geneva on Friday, although he indicated uncertainty over whether he would personally attend, noting that US Vice President JD Vance was expected to represent Washington at the event.
Trump described the deal as already in effect in principle, stating that movement through the strategic waterway had begun easing and would be completely restored shortly.
US officials, including Vice President JD Vance, said the agreement involves no immediate release of frozen Iranian funds and framed any sanctions relief as conditional on verified changes in Tehran’s behavior.
Vance said Iran would only receive economic relief if it took concrete steps, including cooperation on monitoring its enriched uranium stockpile and adherence to verification mechanisms intended to prevent nuclear weapons development.
He also stressed that sanctions easing would depend on compliance, while financial restrictions would remain in place if Iran failed to meet agreed conditions.
According to US officials, the deal represents a framework agreement aimed at halting hostilities and reopening key maritime routes, while leaving several technical and nuclear-related details for future negotiations.
The announcement comes amid ongoing regional tensions following months of conflict that disrupted energy markets and escalated military activity across the Middle East.
Iranian officials are expected to be represented at the signing ceremony in Switzerland later this week, where further details of the agreement are anticipated to be clarified.
