The Enemy Within Is More Dangerous Than the Enemy Outside!
“Outer enemies can be seen and prepared for; inner ones are already inside the walls.” — Baybars, 13th-century Mamluk Sultan of Egypt.
For centuries, philosophers, military strategists, and politicians have emphasized a critical truth: the danger to our safety posed by someone we believe is a friend but who, in fact, wishes us harm can be devastating. Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher echoed this sentiment, remarking shortly after the Falklands War in 1982: “During wartime, we had to fight the enemy outside; but the enemy within is much more difficult to fight and is just as dangerous to liberty.” She was referring to the miners’ strike that was ongoing in England at the time.
Why do we reference these events? Because throughout history, the global ummah has had to deal with a similar issue—hatred. This hatred comes not only from those who openly wish us harm but also from individuals who pose as genuine Muslims, claiming to have our best interests at heart, while in reality, they are our worst enemies. These individuals are often supported and funded by like-minded groups that wish to see us undermine our community.
A recent example is the launch of a new ‘Muslim’ entity in Ontario, Canada, called the “Muslim Policy Institute” (MPI). Who are they, and what purpose do they serve? While it’s too early to draw definitive conclusions, let’s examine what we know about them and let you decide their agenda.
First, let’s look at how they claim to support Canadian Muslims, as stated in their own words.
Their declared charter or plan asserts: “The questions MPI cares about—belonging, opportunity, the pressures families face, and what Muslim Canadians prioritize—are often overlooked. Meanwhile, the national conversation often circles certain politically charged issues.”
This last statement references Islamophobia, which, curiously, does not seem to concern them much. Ms. Nika Jabiyeva, the Managing Director of MPI and former Executive Director of the Canadian Azerbaijani Muslims, has stated that while Islamophobia “was” a concern for the community, the bigger issues for Muslim Canadians—like those affecting most Canadians—are the high cost of living and housing.
Perhaps Nika has not heard of the horrific incidents involving the Afzaal family in London, Ontario, the Montreal Mosque shooting, or the Muslim women who have had their hijabs forcibly removed in public spaces. She may not be aware of the vandalism targeting our children’s schools, pig meat being hung on our mosque doors, or the assaults on our young sisters as they go about their daily lives.
The list of issues we face is far too long to fit in this space. But thank you, Nika, for making us Canadian Muslims feel so safe!
If the preceding points still do not raise any red flags, consider the following:
Red Flag #1: The timing of this group’s launch is suspect. It coincides with a period when Zionists are losing ground globally, and their staunchest supporters, American Evangelicals, are under increasing pressure from their younger generation to condemn Israel’s genocide in Gaza. This sets the stage for a new Trojan horse: MPI to enter the scene. There were no warnings, no lead-up to the grand launch, and most telling of all, no clear reason for its existence. Instead, we are presented with a vague and convoluted charter. This is not only dangerous but humiliating. Do the enemies of Islam and Muslims think our community is so gullible that it will accept anything?
Red Flag #2: The media coverage surrounding MPI’s launch is also concerning. Several of Toronto’s most biased and bigoted Zionist media outlets have taken the lead in promoting this new venture, along with numerous visible and covert Israeli lobbyists from Ottawa to Toronto to Montreal. The question arises: why would an openly Zionist newspaper in Toronto take the lead in promoting MPI? This should clarify who is backing MPI.
Red Flag #3: The individuals in positions of power within this group warrant scrutiny. One notable figure is a man who presents himself as an “Imam of Peace“—an agent provocateur known as “His Eminence, Imam Mohammad Tawhidi.” For those unfamiliar with him, Tawhidi is an Australian Iranian commentator who claims to oppose ‘extremism among Muslims’ and advocates for ‘Islamic reform.’
Yet, his “reform” efforts seem to include promoting reinterpretations of Islamic texts, criticizing the Iranian regime, opposing the Hijab, and attacking Muslim traditions and practices. Critics highlight his praise for controversial political figures, such as the notoriously polarizing Islamophobe Pauline Hanson, and his frequent appearances on conservative media outlets in the US, Australia, and Canada, suggesting that his agenda serves political purposes rather than genuine theological reform.
In November 2022, the Supreme Court of Victoria (Australia) ordered Tawhidi to pay $20,000 in defamation damages to Moustafa Awad, an Australian lawyer. The ‘Imam of Peace’, upset with Awad for voicing complaints against him, shared Awad’s personal contact details, photo, and business profile with his large online following, labeling him an extremist and alleging connections to ISIS. This action resulted in a barrage of online harassment and death threats directed at Awad.
An ABC News report later stated that “Tawhidi is not recognized as an Imam or Sheik by either the Australian National Imams Council or its South Australian equivalent, nor is he affiliated with any Australian mosque or prayer center.”
As mentioned earlier, our intent is not to sway your opinion but to provide sufficient information for you to form your own views about groups like these.
